3 Exercise Progressions for Training the Female Core

Happy April. We hope you had a great weekend.

This is a busy week here at IIHFE.

This weekend, I’m headed to present at IDEA Personal Trainer Institute East.

I’ll be sharing the Integrative Movement System™ Approach to Posture and Movement focusing on the hip (more specifically the glutes and psoas), knee, and lower extremity.

Also, this weekend, Jenice and Sara will be in Kansas City teaching their brand-new workshop:

Restoring the Female Core After Pregnancy, Injury & Surgery

This course is based upon their book: What Lies Beneath: The Under-Realized Effects of Breast, Abdominal, & Pelvic Surgeries.

This book is the first resource that discusses the impact of breast, abdominal, and pelvic surgery upon the female core.

That’s why we’ve been sharing strategies with you for working with your female clients after pregnancy, surgery, and/or trauma.

Because if you work with women who are similar to the clients we work with here at Chicago Integrative Movement Specialists, there is strong likelihood that they are among the millions of women who have had at least one of the following surgeries each year:

  • C-sections
  • Hysterectomies
  • Gall bladder
  • GI system
  • Low back

After surgery, many of these women struggle – it could be weeks, months, or even years later – with chronic tension, weakness, and/or ability to perform at their pre-surgery level and don’t know where to turn for help.

This is why it is so valuable to have an approach like the Integrative Movement System™ Approach to Posture and Movement and why we’ve been sharing this process with you.

The Integrative Movement System™ Approach to Posture and Movement is a 3-step process that enables you to:

  1. Assess your client to determine her non-optimal and inefficient habits contributing to tightness, weakness, and/or discomfort.
  2. Use your corrective exercise strategy to help her develop more optimal and efficient habits.
  3. Integrate these new habits into the fundamental movement patterns your client needs to do to safely and effectively achieve her goals.

In today’s episode of Integrative Movement Insider™ Sara is going to demonstrate 3 Exercise progressions for training the female core after pregnancy, surgery, and/or trauma.

These are 3 of the more common patterns we use with our clients at Chicago Integrative Movement Specialists.

These are 3 of the progressions Sara herself used to restore her core after her C-section.

These are a few of the progressions that you can use with many of your female clients that present with tightness, discomfort, and/or can’t perform at the levels they need or want after pregnancy, surgery, and/or trauma.

Remember, there are so many women that don’t know where to turn for help after pregnancy, surgery, and/or trauma.

Be that specialist they need and want.

If you’re going to be in Kansas City for the course, Jenice and Sara will see you there.

You can also catch Jenice teaching her workshop Conditioning for the Female Core 2.0 at Fitness Fest later this month (details at www.iihfe.com).

Make it a great week.

Dedicated to helping you make this year your best year ever as a health and fitness professional.
